United Water Restoration remediated a flood at our condo recently (December 2025). Their team (Jason, Gabor and team) showed up within 30 minutes of being dispatched. They were extremely friendly and quickly jumped into action. Nicholas Lauber was our main point of contact during this stressful and terrible time for my family. Nicholas checked our site daily and updated us via text or phone call for progress reports which we're really grateful for as we were displaced from our home for 5 days. We can't say enough about this company and would recommend them to anyone if you ever find yourself in this terrible situation.

Cautionary experience with United Water Restoration Group (UWRG) – improper mitigation, escalation, and lien threats I’m sharing this as a consumer experience and cautionary account, not legal advice. United Water Restoration Group of South Florida (UWRG) became involved after a plumber contacted them as an “emergency response.” We did not independently select or hire this company. Documentation issues from the start At the time of service, paperwork was signed, but no copy of the signed agreement, scope of work, pricing, or required disclosures was provided. Those documents were sent roughly two days later, and only after repeated requests. That made it impossible to meaningfully review or understand what was being done or billed. Improper containment and mitigation UWRG installed plastic containment, but photos taken during their work show condensation and moisture trapped inside the containment, while air scrubbers and drying equipment were placed outside the contained area. UWRG returned on multiple days, observed worsening conditions, and took no corrective action. This was later confirmed by third parties. The containment setup was specifically identified as improper in the insurer-retained engineer’s report, and the insurance adjuster referenced those failures when explaining why additional remediation was required. After UWRG’s containment was removed, wall areas showed visible deterioration and another mitigation company had to step in. Billing dispute → escalation instead of resolution Despite the above, UWRG billed for the services. When the charges were disputed in writing and services were canceled, the response was not clarification or negotiation. Instead, communications escalated to: Texts referencing law enforcement Repeated threats of lien placement Statements that additional fees would be added if a lien were filed References to documentation that had never been provided during the service period There was no attempt at a good-faith off-ramp or reconciliation. Licensing questions that surfaced afterward Another issue that only came to light later involved licensing. The emergency services agreement listed a state license number. After the dispute escalated, I independently looked up that license and found it was shown as “current, inactive” at the relevant time. To understand whether any local licensing applied, I contacted Manatee County directly. During that call, I was informed that no active county license was on file for UWRG to perform remediation work in Manatee County. I was also told that Manatee County does not require a separate mold remediation (MRSR) license. Even so, the absence of any county license on file was not disclosed at the time of service and raised additional transparency concerns for me as a homeowner. I am not making a legal determination here. However, this combination of a state license listed as inactive and no county license on file was information I only learned after the fact, and it raised further concerns about transparency, eligibility to perform the work billed, and the validity of the charges—particularly given how quickly the matter escalated to lien threats once the invoice was disputed. Why the lien threats mattered Because lien threats were raised early and repeatedly, I reviewed publicly available county clerk records in counties adjacent to Manatee County. I’m not making a legal claim, but I found a very high volume of lien filings by UWRG over many years compared to other remediation companies I checked, which had few or none. That context made the lien threats feel far more serious as a homeowner. Bottom line This experience involved: Improper mitigation later confirmed by third parties Lack of transparency at the time of service Escalation to lien threats and fee inflation instead of resolution I’m sharing this so other homeowners understand what questions to ask, what documentation to insist on before work proceeds, and how quickly an “emergency” response can turn into a billing and lien dispute.
