Florida Roof Specialists

The Florida Roof Specialists must have learned their lesson. Our new roof is beautiful and they were very helpful. We ran into a few difficulties (e.g., they lost a check that had to be reissued by the insurance company) and their business office was unnecessarily aggressive, but they were helpful and easy to work with. At the end, I was asked to pay beyond the deductible, but when I reminded them that I was promised that I wouldn't pay anything other than the deductible, they modified the invoice and the bill was then paid in full. The sales group was great and the business side worked with me, but I recommend frequently communicating with them and getting things in writing. I recommend them - the roof and final experience was worth it. I do wish that they would put the gutters back up though.

Roof install was great, cleanup was great. Working with Charity was great! The sales pitch is very deceiving, you sign a contract but do not get a copy of the contract until after the 3 day cancellation date along with an outrageous estimate that is double what your insurance adjuster has quoted. It takes some back and forth between the insurance company and FRS along with understanding what the insurance company will not cover, ie any rotten wood that needs replacing, you will be responsible for your deductible also. I do agree FRS adds charges they know the insurance company will not pay under any circumstances. All in all I am happy with the end product although FRS really does need to improve their borderline shady sales tactics.

I got a quote from FRS/MINORCAN as I was in litigation with the insurance company. They came with no notice early Thanksgiving morning to tarp the roof creating a ruckus while we were trying to sleep. Then when they started the roof some time later they were done fast. Done in 2-3 days. I don't know who they got to pass their inspection on the 4th day, but they left my house in shambles. The fascias were torn and hanging. My roof was left exposed for anything to crawl or grow underneath. This was months ago. They claim they're not responsible for the fascias and soffits and I would have to get someone else to do them. It's part of the roof. Why wouldn't this have been done? Why wasn't it (allegedly) included in the quote for the settlement? They're taking no accountability. Reaching out for quotes to other companies lead me to complain. What they did was unethical and poor consumer treatment. Put a lien on my house after I repeated told them I was waiting for the insurance settlement check.

I was charged $29,000+ which is twice as much as four of my immediate neighbors who had theirs done within a month of mine (they all used Cedar Cove with great results and impeccable integrity), my job was installed without scheduling with me (I was out of state), material was left on my driveway, my satellite dish was left dangling off the roof, ALL of my gutters were removed and left mangled on the side of my home facing the main street of my community, and their waste bin left stains on my driveway which they claimed was not their problem to amend. I do my best to share my horrible experience with as many as possible so they choose any other company.

UPDATE: I ended up paying the roofing company $1000 more than the original quote. I wrote paid in full on the check and I didn’t pay for the other extra charges that they tacked on without my knowledge. They told me from day one that they had programs that helped pay for the deductible and that I would not have to pay a dime!! They are swindling people especially the elderly with their scam. They finally took the illegal lien off!! I am right now deciding whether I will give this company a better rating. The salesperson that came to my house said that this company would make it an easy process was very nice throughout the whole thing. The people that installed the roof were fast and efficient and basically cleaned up the yard when finished. It’s the extra money that they slapped on the bill that I’m having an issue with right now and they put a lien on my house after they sent the paperwork in on April 22. I had a lien on my house in a month!! I except to get that lien removed immediately and the extra charges that they added without my consent or knowledge. I’m hoping that they will make good on the our original agreement by the end of this week! I've been sick so I didn't get to update but I got a nasty answer back from an employee that they were honest with the deal. I will take a polygraph test to prove I was told that I wouldn't have to come up with a dime for my roof! That salesperson that came to my door told me that there were programs that paid for the deductible for people in my circumstances and I don't care what this company says!! Too bad that they love to screw people
